The Cub House Builds: Lil’ Bling Mystery Frame Ti Kids’ BMX

While visiting The Cub House for the LA Invitational earlier this summer, John documented a unique titanium kids’ BMX with an interesting story. Read on for a look at this wild, 14 lb titanium shred sled for a kiddo below…

The Cub House co-owner Sean Talkington has gone down a rabbit hole. A kid’s BMX racing tunnel, full of über lightweight components and nights spent watching his son Benny race at the local BMX trackBefore all that, Mike Martin from Mash, up in San Francisco, saw that Carla was pregnant with Benny and sold Sean this titanium kids BMX frame, saying, “You need to have this!” And sold Sean the frameset for $500.

He’d found this titanium kids’ BMX frameset at a bike swap in San Jose a few years ago. The seller didn’t know who built it, but said it was built in someone’s garage. Knowing that Carla and Sean were expecting and that their kid would most likely be into bikes, he sent it down to San Marino.

It sat at the shop for five years as Sean acquired parts. Unfortunately, by the time the bike was complete, Benny had outgrown it, so he didn’t even get to race it. Meanwhile, the bike now sits at The Cub House on display, as evidence of the San Marino bike shop’s abilities for custom builds. Sean mentioned to me that Benny’s current race bike is 5.5 pounds lighter!

Do you know who built this bike? If so, drop a note in the comments.
