2025 Made Bike Show: Significant Other Ded Reckin Titanium Full Suspension

We’re pausing the multiple bike gallery format of our 2025 Made Bike Show coverage to give one bike its own spotlight. Ashley King from Significant Other brought a few killer bikes, but John really vibed with her Ded Reckin, a titanium and steel full suspension. Let’s check it out in detail for one of a few individual build showcases we have planned from the show…

Significant Other

Ashley King’s journey with framebuilding began in 2020 with her time at UBI, or United Bicycle Institute. She completed her steel TIG course in February of 2020, right before the pandemic, and surfed the wave of peak bicycle demand in the United States. The global pandemic pushed Americans out onto bikes, and it felt like the biggest boom since the Bikecentennial in 1976.

“I came back and landed an internship with a bike manufacturer right before the pandemic hit. And then bikes went crazy – everyone wanted a bike. You couldn’t get bikes from the larger companies. There was this huge custom boom. I got a lot of experience very quickly, which showed me pretty full-on what it was all about. I loved it…”

Finding a job was easy enough. Ashley’s previous career was in hydroponic systems and relied on her organized and systematic thought process to solve problems while honing her craft. She landed at Dean before spending time at Reeb in Fort Collins. While at Reeb, she assisted in producing over 400 full suspension frames.

Significant Other won the Builder’s Choice Award at the 2025 Made Bike Show with her flat bar gravel bike hardtail…

Ded Reckin Full Suspension

At this year’s Sea Otter Classic, Continental pinged Ashley to make a bike to display at the booth to align with its Magnotal tires. Making a number of hardtail frames over the years, this request prompted her to develop the first Significant Other full suspension bike. Unfortunately, the timing didn’t work out but it got the ball rolling mentally. She knew this undertaking would require some help, so Ashley consulted Flat Iron Bikes’ Ian Durkin and Steve Ziegler to help plan the kinematics and fabrication.

The result is a modified single pivot with 120 mm travel, a steel rear swingarm, and a titanium front triangle. IN3DTEC did the stainless sintered and Ti components used on the bike, and Send Cut Send did the plate work. With all the parts assembled, Ashley began to assemble the chassis, blending the springy feeling of steel in the swingarm with the lightweight strength of titanium in the front triangle.

Once the frame was assembled, Flux Customs applied the Cerakote finish to the steel swingarm and all of the titanium graphic treatments. Significant Other’s eyeball pattern runs down the top tube, on the linkage, and onto the back of the seat tube.

Significant Other Shout Outs

Undertakings like this wouldn’t be possible without brands supporting builders, and Ashley requested that I give them a shout-out. Many thanks to Continental for the initial nudging at Sea Otter, TRP for displaying the bike in the booth, Bike Yoke for the components, Cane Creek for the suspension (the sparkle Helm really offered some nice pops of color!), and Hunt for the wheels. And YOU for reading this article.

Why Do I Like This So Much?

My take on this bike is that it exemplifies Ashley’s seemingly fearless ambition to push outside of the norm at shows like Made. While fixed gears, gravel bikes, and hardtails are awesome, it takes a different level of execution to design and develop a full suspension bike. This bike really speaks to her abilities as an artist and artisan. While rolling it out to be photographed, I couldn’t help but notice how lightweight it felt in my hands.

I’m also a huge fan of metal full suspension bikes and wish there were more production models available from US builders. Right now, the UK is leading the way in sheer number of production bikes on the market. In the USA, the sole company pushing this pursuit is Reeb. I say, the more the merrier!

While Ashley hasn’t even ridden it yet, I’m eagerly awaiting hearing what she thinks of the bike. Documenting it at the 2025 Made Bike Show was a real highlight for me.

Many thanks to Ashley King of Significant Other for spending time yesterday morning with me. And a special thanks to YOU, the readers of The Radavist, for reading this article. Drop some love in the comments below…
